Every registry business service within Verne is subject to workflow process. The workflow controls the manner by which the business service is initiated, the subsequent flow involved in completing it, and any associated fees, notifications and filings on the register that completion of the business service entails. The rules defined within service workflow allow control over the business process that is followed, on an individual basis, for each business service made available.

Service workflow configuration determines the exact life-cycle of a business service instance (i.e. what statuses it travels through) and what events, user-triggered and system-triggered, transition the service through its life-cycle.

Verne registers come with a standard pre-configured workflow, described below, that is applied to all business services. However the business services within a Verne solution can vary significantly, so the workflow can differ depending on the entity being processed (corporations, directors, finance statement, practitioner.) The workflow configuration can be changed to meet the business requirements of the client. Verne workflow configuration also includes the ability to configure multiple workflow types to allow business services on the same platform to follow different business processes.

Service workflow is enabled by the Verne workflow engine and is configured using its language. One service workflow configuration can be shared by many business services on the platform because the workflow is usually very generic. Any variations that require conditional logic for specific business services are enabled via business service configuration settings. These configurable settings control the flow of a business service and the way it is processed by the system.
