Verne can integrate into your Content Management System (CMS) for delivery of the web site that surrounds and supports the register. If you do not have an existing CMS, Verne will manage the content via configuration. CMS provides a very secure, reliable and flexible way to maintain the content of the web sites without the need to edit HTML or other code.

A CMS is configured with a design template that controls the look and feel of the site, as well as the structure of each page and the site navigation. Authorised users are then able to add and maintain content via a simple text editing system while the CMS takes care of the formatting of the page and the overall site. A CMS also provides control over changes to a site’s content by way of a pre-configured workflow that determines the authorisation each user has, and can direct a particular user to authorise changes before they are visible on the public web site.

Within the Verne CMS, the look and feel of site navigation elements are separated from the actual navigation items. The site template controls the look and feel, as well as behaviour, of the navigational elements (menus or buttons). Administrators are able to edit the navigation items within the CMS to control the items available to external users.

CMS Solutions

There are three Content Management solutions which can be deployed. They are, in order of preference;

  1. Utilise the existing Content Management System – for clients with an existing CMS the preference is to integrate Verne to it using the integration methodology described below. The benefit of this is the Verne content will be managed using the clients existing content authoring and approval processes.
  2. Introduce a Verne compatible Content Management System – for clients who either do not have a CMS or whose CMS does not support the Verne integration requirements, it is recommended that a Verne compatible CMS be introduced as part of the implementation.
  3. Manage the content through Verne configuration – for clients who do not have a CMS (which supports Verne integration) and do not want to introduce a CMS, Verne content will be managed from within Verne using standard configuration tools.

Capabilities and Features

Full CMS integration includes:

  • Homepage and content pages.
  • Navigation menus.
  • ‘Before you begin’ and ‘End’ pages.
  • Online help content.
  • Adhoc in-form CMS content blocks.
  • In-line CMS content is picked up on server-side and cached for optimisation.
    • This type of content is ideal for homepage content, header notifications, or long term static content (i.e. common page footer).
  • Interactive adhoc iFrame CMS blocks to work with external content.
  • Can be used as a window into externally hosted content i.e. surveys, live call-centre help.
