Pre-requisites
1. Access provided to the super-heroes Git repository
2. Basic knowledge of GIT

This lesson is a prerequisite to all of the other lessons within the Verne training course. It outlines how to get the training application up and running, including the location of the configuration files that you’ll be editing along the way, as well as an overview of the application and course itself.

Install Verne, Magellan Builder and Check-Out your Project

The first step before use Magellan is to setup our account to clone the repository so we can start the Super heroes app. To do this please make sure to follow setting up a Bitbucket account

If you already the Bitbucket account setup complete you need to clone the repository and start Magellan.

Application overview

Now that your application is up and running in your browser, we’ll outline a few areas of interest within the running application itself.

Logon

Some users are seeded with the application. There are a few, but the following ones are all you should require throughout the training. If which user to use is not specified explicitly within the lesson, then use the external user account.

Type of user accountusernamepassword
An external user External01@fostermoore.com External01
An internal user sysadmin@fostermoore.com Registry01
An internal support user support@fostermoore.com Registry01

Dev tools

Check out the development tools section, specifically the application dev tools for some helpful tools to assist you throughout your registry development.

Application logs

Application logs are a really important part of any running application. They help during development to provide fast feedback regarding any warnings or errors. But crucially they also help support production systems, providing details not just regarding warnings or errors, but also around user actions to help clarify what actions were taken to arrive at a particular scenario.

As such, once you’ve started up the training application, be sure to view the logs, either via the application log viewer or using your log viewer of choice (e.g. Veneer).
